You’ve purged. You’ve sorted. And now you’re ready to go shopping for containers. I understand not everyone loves to skip down the storage and organization aisles like I do. There are so many options out there which is great in the respect that you are unlikely to not find a solution. But sometimes that many choices can be overwhelming. Here are a few ways to shop smart:
LIQUIDS: Whether its food or cleaning products, liquids are best stored in plastic or acrylics that can easily be wiped out in case of a spill. The container should also be solid with no holes in the bottom or on the side.
FABRICS: Think smooth. You don’t want a container that can snag material.
AIRTIGHT: It goes without saying that if you are storing perishables (flour, sugar, etc.), they need to be stored in a good quality air-tight container. Don’t forget to mark them with the products expiration date.
QUALITY: All those options out there mean a wide variety of prices. We all love a good deal, especially when containers can get pricey. But more important than price is quality. These containers should last for a long time. They should be sturdy and crack resistant. If you pick it up and it feels flimsy before anything is even in it, put it back. You will just end up having to replace it!
GLASS: I’ve been seeing a big trend lately of people using glass containers in laundry rooms and bathrooms. I get it, it does look nice. But if you are clumsy like me, I’d strongly urge you to find a plastic alternative.
