When I explain to people what I do, I often get the response “that’s a job?” As I continue to go into more detail, their heads start to nod and they being to understand what a Professional Organizer does.
Occasionally I will get request to “tidy-up” someone’s home. By tidying up they mean do a quick once over in their house, usually because they are in a panic about people visiting their home. They are hoping to find someone who will sweep through the house, toss the excess into the dark corners of the house (usually a closet or guest room) and make the “public areas” of the home look put together. Professional Organizers refer to this as CHAOS: Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome. While we can and will put an end to CHAOS, it can’t be done as a quick fix.
